At the counter or at home

Less “B or D?” when guests ask for Wi-Fi.

A long string of unrelated characters can turn a simple question into a spelling exercise. Pronounceable syllables give you something to say, with a guide to help you check the sounds. Always confirm the actual spelling and punctuation.

1. Generate a longer result

Choose Ritual for the longest output. Turn off character substitutions if you want fewer symbols to explain. Read the result aloud and check its exact characters before using it.

2. Open your guest network settings

Use your router's app or administration page. Enable a separate guest network if your router offers one. Keep its password different from your main Wi-Fi password and router administrator password.

3. Apply it to the router

Check the router's password length and character rules, then paste the generated result into the guest Wi-Fi password field and save. Keep a copy in your password manager. ChantKey does not connect to or configure your router.

4. Reconnect and test

Connect a phone to the guest network using the new password. Ask someone else to enter it from your dictation. Confirm capital letters, hyphens, and symbols. Devices using an old password will need the new one.

The password is one part of Wi-Fi security

Use WPA3 Personal, or WPA2 Personal if WPA3 is unavailable, and keep your router's software up to date. A separate guest network can help keep guests away from your main network. Review your router's own instructions and access controls.

These steps follow the FTC's Wi-Fi security guidance. ChantKey's Whisper, Chant, and Ritual labels describe generation presets; they do not certify a network's security.

Common questions

Will this work with any router?

Check your router's requirements first. ChantKey produces 8–32 characters, depending on the language and preset, using Latin letters, optional substitutions, and hyphens in longer results. Your router decides which passwords it accepts.

Does generating a password change my Wi-Fi?

No. The generator creates a string. You apply it yourself in the router's guest network settings. It does not change the network name, reconnect devices, or enable guest isolation.

Can I use a short Whisper result for guest Wi-Fi?

A short result is easier to say, but a shared network still needs a carefully chosen password. Start with Ritual, the longest preset, and test both router compatibility and spoken clarity. Avoid reusing the Wi-Fi password for any private account.

Are the results stored?

Generation runs on the server using Web Crypto. Passwords and pronunciation are not saved or included in analytics. Copy a result somewhere you control before leaving the page. The limit is 20 generations per rolling 24 hours, shared by your network.
